Out of Ashes, Reborn (A Brief History)
So, ever since I started playing computer games with online communities, I wanted to keep a daily blog of what happens inside of these communities and what happens between the great divide that is Computer gaming, and real actual life. Its really interesting to think of things in this fashion because it allows for more thoughts and ideas to flow through me and my daily life. So with out any Further delays, let us begin
(Note: this first post is about past memories, some of them may not be 100% accurate due to the damage time has done to my own personal memories. This blog should restore my faith in myself to maintain said knowledge.
I started online gaming around ten or eleven, for the longest time my parents were trying to hide this fact that we could be able to play games with random people over the internet, it also helped at the time that we were just getting rid of our dial up and going for a better internet source.
The first game that I ever played online was a game called Crimson skies, on Msn Game Zone. Back then, game zone was like the main hub of internet gaming, with game spy coming up and a not so distant second. Things like dedicated servers were just not out there and not really conceived on until, these services went down hill.
I Joined my first gaming group around the same time for Crimson skies called: Birds of Prey. For my age, I seemed to act mature, since this organization would only allow mature adults into their ranks, as long as I did not speak through a microphone, I should be okay.
During this time, I became a decent player at the game and were able to beat some of the best players on the internet for this game. It was a very exciting time, I have finally found friends who did not want to beat me up because my name is Gary or because I am just a little kid, instead, I have found my true Family.
Around this time, I started trying out other games to play online, my memory of these games are very scattered and I do not remember all of them, but here are some of the games that have always come to mind: Crimison Skies, Age of Empires, Age of Empires II (And Expansion) Galactic Battlegrounds (I was a beta tester for a game mod for this game, I actually became a quite popular name, being that my name was featured on several maps) Star wars Xwing Alliance, Freelancer, Tachyon the Fringe, Microsoft Combat flight simulator II (The best one), And so on and so forth. As I kept aging, more and more games came up and struck me apon the head.
The next major organization I was apart of was called Angles of Death or [AOD], they played games like Star wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi outcast, and a few other games. It was hear I got the most in trouble. This group consisted of only adults talking about bad and dirty things for a thirteen or fourteen year old to hear, and because of this, I became in trouble with my parents and due to this group, I was exiled from my computer for about a year.
A year without a computer is alot, but I am so used to it now it does not even matter. A year went by, more and more games were released and all I can remember is getting back on to try and find some of the organizations I played with, [AOD] was destroyed, there have been a few incarnations since I have left, but for the most part, they were filled with new people who did not care who I was and what I used to do. BOP died along time ago, towards the death of MSN Game zone. They were one of the first organizations to go, since their game was a little bit older, and did not really allow for much improvement after the first few years. It was there I played some of the older games on my old computer, until finally, my next game appeared.
I was late in the game for Star Trek Bridge Commander, of course it was not the first game that came to mind when it was first released, since I was not really looking for games and was not playing any, but after playing a few rounds online, I discovered that I absolutely loved it. It was this kind of Game that allowed me to stay up late at night, and rediscover myself. It was shortly around this time, that Star wars, Jedi knight III was released, and I was totally ready to get back on the scene of gaming, This is when I joined my first major organization for gaming. Force elite soldiers (www.fesgaming.com) Is a group of thousands of star wars players, and other games formed together through chat clients like IRC, to play games that are either star wars based, or just truly fun. here I was known for the first time as [FES]ScaryGary. The name Scary Gary was born, from the ashes of an old name my dad used, I have finally became my own identity on the internet. From the ashes, I was reborn. here, I was involved in several diffrent games like JKIII, JKII, Star wars galaxies, and etc. It was here I have the most memories in gaming
One of my greatest memories was getting to know the creator and founder of Force Elite Soldiers, Kaardoon (or something like that) playing games with him like Star Wars Galaxies was truly fun and enjoyable. Trying to take land from another group that was invading our property, was truly fun and quite enjoyable. His voice really lended a hand in things and allowed for some deep thought. A few weeks later after getting to know him, he passed away from a drunk driver hitting him head on. It was a shame, such a great guy being killed by a random event, but so is life I assume. It was from there I took a postion under Kirov's wing. Kirov, was the first and currently only, online Alaskan that I became true friends with. I never expected to meet another Alaskan on a gaming site, since none of my personal friends played games online but there he was, an intelligent college kid becoming friends with a 14/15 year old boy. It was there, That I became under the shadow organization for Force Elite Soldiers. A group of spies and other agents, who infiltrate other gaming communities, in order for them to merge into one solid group. I was quite interesting to see this process work, as I never had known any organizations to do that since I was on the internet, The goal was for me to become a person in charge of this organization, and, in due time to merge with the Force Elite Soldiers. This plan failed. The reason being Kirov was taken out of office by the new leader of the organization, whom was someone I could never agree with. Kirov was very displeased and since that faithful day, I have never seen him again. His quotes of wisdom and knowledge allowing me to learn how to trust no one, and to always have your back watched, and methods in order to be playing two roles when your only playing one, truly advanced my gaming career, and shortly after this incident, I created an argument with the organization itself, and with this. I was banned from Force Elite Soldiers
At the same time, I was with another organization for a game mod for BF1942, this is my first step into where I am today. I was playing a mod call Galactic Conquest, a star wars mod that had a passion for great teamwork and space battles. It was there, I joined an organization called NoC (No One Cares Clan) I met a lot of people, participated a few events with, and played a lot of games with this organization, until I found the beginning of where I am today
During one of the NoC's boring days, someone mentioned a mod called Battlefield Pirates. I had been looking into this mod, and another mod called Forgotten hope for some time. Forgotten hope I never downloaded, because it was too big for me, and did not allow for me to have any free time when it comes to downloading things. I played alot of public games in BFP, before I finally decided which organization to go. I decided on a smaller, newer group call HG (Hallowed galleon or something like that, I honestly forgot.) This organization was lead by a leader named troy, who I later found out was an idiot and a dick so I decided to leave them with a few others in a huge power movement (a skill taught to me by Kirov) I moved with a few others who I can never remember their names, and because of this. All of that group that were not dicks formed their own Orgnaization, Scurvy Dogs |Sd| They were lead by a female named ChipsAhoy. And she was a very good leader, and a very good player. But I decided that it was not in my best interest to join them. =
Instead, I joined the Drunken Elite, after becoming friends with Erwin Rommel and a few others. They were lead by a thoughtful gamer known as Lodi, and he was very much a british man. There, I made alot of friends like, Apm, boom,Raid, Reporter, Lodi,Erwin, and The man who would eventually put me into my position today, Roscoe.
With [-DE-], I was an on and off member, showing up when they needed that crazy Alaskan to kill all of their enemies, back then I remember being a kick ass gamer and player because of those small facts. One day, Roscoe invited all of us into another tourney, since he had a guess that BFP was going to fail and one day die because of the lack of activity when it comes to gaming, It was because of this, that I joined BFE
I joined on the last day of Camp 12, the Axis had one for the first time and were gearing up to win, yet another tourney. The whole gaming environment was amazing, and I really connected to them, its why I am still there today, and will probably be one of the last major organizations I will ever be apart of.
Camp 13 was my first offical camp as a player for this tournament, I was seen as a rising star, even though I hardly knew how to play Forgotten hope one at all. I joined the group Gp with their leader Karida (arabgirl) with my friend Roscoe and the 2nd Lt M1.. The important thing about this is a friendship that had bounded between M1 and myself. At the time, that crazy michigander truly had ideas of his own and was moved into taking command at the end of the first mini camp, it was there, I decided to transfer myself into tanking and became the player I am today.
The first battle if I remember correctly for tanking, was on a map called Eagles Nest, It was here that I played with a Panzer two, and decided to destroy and git rid of the competition. destroying stuarts and other tanks, allowed for me to get my first war medal in the campain. After a few more battles with high enjoyment, I was promoted from a Sgt, to a second lt.
There I became known for my brash tactics, and my heavy bias towards the tankers. Infantry companies learned that I did not really enjoy their company, and for the most part I did not like their ideas when it came for tanks. if they wanted their tanking force to be the best, I would argue for the best. it was here that I commanded the tanking company under this position, From Italy To West Europe, where I resigned due to the new captain of the tanking company, vicious, not doing any work.
There are two battles that I will always remember the most out of all of them, the first being We were soldiers. A huge argument between tankers on both sides, and also the amazing shots that I had on my rival at the time, Buka. The other battle is how I received my German Cross, For Commanding the Tanking company For twelve straight hours, and doing some amazing tanking, when we were against the odds of some of the best tankers in the game. I truly enoyed this battle and I will never forget it.
Since then, my computer has broke 1,000,000 times, and I eventually built my own gaming machine that could hold its own in the face of the enemy. It was an acomplishment I was truly proud of, and will always treasure. Since then I met an internal group known as the infamous Team Turbo [T-T] There, I was made fun of so much and so violently and frequently, that I decided to stay there for as long as I can, and became good friends with alot of people I consider friends in real life.
For now, This is all I can write in such a small space without boring you, This Blog is meant to continue these adventures untill I am done with gaming, and with life. Hopefully, you will stay tuned and watch the things that are to come, but For now, I am Scary Gary, I am 19 years old, I live in Anchorage Alaska, and this is truly, the life of an Alaskan Gamer.
